The Working Longer review

In autumn 2014, the Secretary of State for Education commissioned a review into the possible health and deployment implications of teachers working longer as a result of the increase in Normal Pension Age (NPA) in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and the link between the Normal Pension Age (NPA) and State Pension Age (SPA).

Flexibility factor changes

Members of the Teachers' Pension Scheme can increase their pension benefits through Flexibilities that allow them to purchase either Additional Pension (Final Salary and Career Average arrangements), Faster Accrual (Career Average only) or through the Buy-out of the standard rate of actuarial reduction (Career Average only).
