Transitional Protection and excess service

Last month we advised you we’ll be directly contacting employers who’ve employees affected by the Transitional Protection changes in relation to excess service. This can’t be rolled back into the final salary scheme as it’s not pensionable and could be eligible for LGPS linked service.

Preparations are still going ahead for getting information ready to send to you. We’re still aiming to get the first files sent out in January 2024.

We won’t be contacting independent schools, studio schools, function provides and some higher education establishments (those established pre-1992). If you’re an establishment in one of these sectors and think you have members who are affected, then please get in touch.
