April Service and Salary Reporting

Because of Annual Allowance calculations, we need to know the pensionable earnings in each tax year. Therefore, April marks a different way to record service and salary information.

For annual allowance calculations, we need to know the pensionable earnings in each tax year.

This means when it comes to April reporting, you must split your data into two lines. One line covers 1 April – 5 April, while the other covers the remainder of the month (6 April – 30 April).

This applies to both your monthly submissions, and all Retirement applications.

Monthly submissions

We’ve an April Split MDC quick guide (PDF, 219 KB) (This link opens in a new window) or an April Split MCR quick guide (PDF, 247 KB) (This link opens in a new window) to help you understand how to provide multiple rows of data that cover a pay period on your submissions.

Retirement applications

On every Retirement application form there’s an example page included at the beginning of Section B, which you as the employer need to complete. This explains how you should split the data needed for April.

Completing your April submission incorrectly can lead to missing service notifications and additional workloads for you, as well as delays in processing the application.

Contribution changes

We’d also like to remind you that from 1 April, the member contributions bands change. Our 'Changes to member contributions' news story covers everything you need to know.
