Changes to Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole Local Authority boundaries

From 1 April 2019, the Government changed the boundaries for Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole Local Authorities to just two Local Authorities, which will be known as:-

  • Dorset Local Authority
  • Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Local Authority.

This has resulted in a change to the LA establishment number for every educational establishment in Dorset, Bournemouth & Poole.

We’d like to reassure you that this hasn’t had an impact on your pension, however for some of you it will have resulted in a change to who provides your service and contributions to us. If you’re working at a school that now has a new LA establishment number, we’ll have had to change the details of your employer. This will result in you receiving an email from us directing you to a factsheet advising of what happens when you move employer. We’ll have only been able to send this to you if you have a My Pension Online (MPO) account or we have your email address. If we don’t have either, we’ve asked your employer to provide it to you.

We’ll have also been in contact with you via letter if you’ve taken one of our flexibilities or other additional payments as you’ll need to transfer them to your new employer. If you’ve taken a Faster Accrual election, you’ll need to re-apply with them.

While we’re making every effort to ensure that the transition runs smoothly, we’re aware that there has unfortunately been some issues which have caused confusion.

There’s nothing else that you need to do in terms of your actual benefits, however if you do have any queries please contact us.
