Remediable Service Statement (RSS) choices payments

As part of the Transitional Protection changes, some of you affected have been issued your Remediable Service Statement (RSS) to enable you to make your remedy choice. This gave you the option to choose between career average and final salary service for the remedy period. Where you’ve elected to choose alternative benefits from those in payment, your decision could have resulted in you requiring a pension adjustment payment from us.

We know that some of you have completed and sent your rectification RSS choices to us. Of the responses we’ve received so far, over 5,500 members require an adjustment payment. Where an adjustment payment is needed, there are additional complex steps required to implement the change.

We’ve started the process of making payments to those of you who have made your remediable choice and have elected for the alternative scheme benefits. We anticipate that from the point of receiving your choice, in the majority of cases it will take around 90 days for the payment to be received. However, this may take longer if we receive a high volume of responses in any one period and the complexities of the cases received is high.

In case of any delays, you shouldn’t commit to any new financial agreements until the arrears are paid into your account.

We are working hard to reduce any delays and appreciate your patience at this time.
