If you’ve spent your career in education, you know how important integrity is in the exam process. As a Centre Inspector, you’ll use your expertise to ensure exams are administered correctly, helping maintain the highest standards for students across the country. It’s a flexible, rewarding opportunity to stay connected to education while giving something back to your local community.

What does the role involve?

On behalf of JCQ Awarding Bodies, Centre Inspectors visit schools and colleges to check compliance with examination regulations. 

Your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring JCQ rules are applied consistently
Offering guidance to centre staff during visits
Providing written feedback on compliance.

What we’re looking for


Recent experience of the examination process (e.g. as an Examinations Officer, Deputy Head, Headteacher, or equivalent relevant experience)
No current employment in a school or college
A full driving licence (except in Central London)
Access to a PC with broadband internet. 

What’s in it for you?

Expected earnings between £1,500–£4,000 per year

It’s important to note that the role of a Centre Inspector, particularly if this is the only role you’re performing, is not likely to be pensionable under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and will therefore not count towards your pension. This is subject to change depending on your circumstances.
