Contractually enrolled. Start deducting contributions.

Back

You have indicated that you have identified an employee who needs to be contractually enrolled into the scheme, as a result of establishing a new employment relationship with them.

  • Write to the employee informing them that they have been enrolled into the scheme, and provide scheme information.
  • Add to your service submission
  • Deduct contributions from the member and remit to us employee and employer contributions each month
  • If the member has previously opted out, please complete the enrolment template and indicate that this is contractual enrolment. This will ensure that the member’s service is recorded as pensionable service for the new employment
  • When the application is received by us within three months of the contract commencing, the effective date of election is the first date of employment.
  • When the form is received by us more than three months after joining the Scheme, the effective date of election is the first day of the next month. In such cases pension contributions must have been deducted for the period prior to the opt out.
  • The effective date of an opt out can be checked by obtaining a member print.

I have completed the relevant steps.

We’ve provided this toolkit to assist you with the implementation of Auto Enrolment. It’s an interpretation of the legislation in relation to the Teachers' Pension Scheme and is not to be considered as a comprehensive guide on Auto Enrolment.
