Deferring your pension

A deferred member is someone who no longer pays into the Scheme but has qualified for retirement benefits that they can claim from age 55*. It’s important to understand what happens to your benefits while you’re a deferred member.

Each year you can check an updated Benefit Statement to see how your pension has changed via My Pension Online.

*The minimum pension age is changing from 6 April 2028, when it will rise from age 55 to 57. Find out more about what this means in our Early Retirement section.
