Review of the administration of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme

We’re working with the Department for Education to look at the general administration of the Scheme and the roles of Teachers’ Pensions and the employer.

There have been lots of changes in the last 20 years including:-

  • Increase in the number of employers to nearly 8,000
  • Growth of Academies
  • Changing role of Local Authorities
  • Increase in outsourcing
  • Developments in technology
  • Environmental changes – longer working lives, tax changes, introduction of Auto Enrolment

As the service hasn’t been reviewed since 2002, it’s important to see if the service is still fit for purpose.

We’ll be delivering a series of Focus Groups to representatives across the employer sector to seek views on how the Scheme is administered, the challenges facing employers and the opportunities available to change how we work in the future.
