Development Update

Here’s an update on a series of developments being introduced in the New Year.

Important information - the way in which we communicate with you is changing

From February 2016 all emails will be sent and received securely via the Employer Portal and My Pension Online (MPO). Security is paramount to Teachers’ Pensions and this initiative is to ensure your data is securely managed and where possible eliminate non secure emails.

Don’t worry about checking your account; we’ll email you once we’ve replied to let you know there’s a message in your inbox.

The Benefit Statement is changing
From 2016 members of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme will no longer receive a paper Benefit Statement. However, members will still be able to access their most up to date statement online via My Pension Online. They’ll be able to print copies of their statements whenever they need and we’ll email them when their statement is ready.

Please encourage your employees to sign up today at www.teacherspensions.co.uk/registration (This link opens in a new window)

The next phase of the project will include a projection tool and allow all members to access a statement.

Online forms
From February the following forms will only be accepted online:

- Transfer in

- Age retirement

- Actuarially Adjusted Benefits (AAB)

This is to ensure the process of application is as streamlined as possible.

Flexibilities – What’s new?
We’re working on improving the tools we have to help members understand and apply for flexibilities much easier. This includes development of:

  • A modeller (personalised calculator) within My Pension Online to allow members a more accurate estimate of the costs and benefits of the different options
  • A calculator which will be available via our website to allow members and employers to better understand the costs and benefits of the flexibilities
  • An improved web form with integrated modeller to allow members to apply for these flexibilities online.

These improvements will be available by the end of March 2016.
