Annual Service Returns (ASR) now overdue

We’d like to congratulate Langley Park Primary School and Langley Park School for Girls who were the first employers to submit their Annual Service Return this year.

Despite the deadline of 6 July 2017 having now passed, there are a substantial number of employers who have not returned their Annual Return. 1,391 of 8,762 employers have not provided a return, which means we don’t have up todate service history for over 229,258 members.

If this information is not provided it’ll have an impact on the information we have to provide to members.

Legislation requires Teachers’ Pensions to:

  • Provide members with accurate information regarding their pension benefits
  • Inform individuals of their estimated pension benefits
  • Enable effective pension planning
  • Ensure service records are accurate to allow for the correct calculation of pension benefits in the future
  • Provide a Pensions Savings Statement for members who need to complete an Annual Allowance self assessment.

Employers who fail to meet their responsibilities – as set out under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme Regulations 2014 – may be reported to The Pensions Regulator, who may choose to impose sanctions on the employer. If you need support completing your Annual Return our website (This link opens in a new window) is a great resource.
