Recording strike days

We’d like to remind you how to record a member’s strike day in full-time or part-time employment.

If the member’s in full-time employment, the strike days are recorded as ‘days excluded’. Alternatively, if they’re in part-time employment, their days are recorded as normal as they don’t receive pay on a strike day.

As all members are now in the career average scheme, they receive 1/57th of their pensionable earnings paid into their pension. This will have no impact on their pension pot as for strike days taken, there’ll be no earnings.

Members are unable to ‘buy strike days back’, if they’re unhappy with not receiving pensionable pay, the only option would be to choose a method of flexibilities to increase their pension.
