MDC update

We’re getting closer to the deadline for all employers to have on-boarded to Monthly Data Collection.
4,320 are now live on MDC, with 559 going through the on-boarding process. A further 3,649 have confirmed their on-boarding date.  If you’ve not provided your on-boarding date you must contact us (This link opens in a new window) immediately.

If neither you nor your payroll provider has a solution in place to submit MDC data, we’ve a template (XLS, 431 KB) (This link opens in a new window) available that’ll allow you to send your monthly data to us. This template can also be downloaded from the Employer Portal.  We just need an activation form (XLS, 35 KB) (This link opens in a new window) from you confirming the date you’re starting to on-board before you send it.

If your MDC file will be submitted by another party, please ensure that you’ve granted them access to the employer portal by completing and returning a delegation form (This link opens in a new window) to epregistrations@teacherspensions.co.uk (This link opens in a new window).

MDC Guidelines

We’ve recently updated the MDC Guidelines document. To help you understand what has been updated we’ve also provided a track changes version.  The main changes are:-

  • Concurrent service including providing a series of scenarios
  • Paternity leave
  • Out of school learning activities (OSLA)
  • Added bonus payments
  • Updating of Error Codes

The updated versions of the guide can be found on our website.

MDC – Variances pilot

As we develop the MDC service (you may have heard this referred to as MDC 2), we’ll be introducing a pilot in the coming months to understand the potential variance issues that may arise between pensionable service and contributions received.

In order to prepare for MDC 2, we suggest that you ensure the contributions information you currently provide on the MDC submission is correct, and matches the service within the file and the contributions paid to Teachers’ Pensions.

We’ll provide you with more information on this through our bulletins.
