What’s new with MCR - everything you need to know

A lot has progressed since July when our Pilot Group provided us with their first Monthly Contributions Reconciliation (MCR) submission. Since then, we’ve had over 380 establishments on-board, and over 1,000 establishments select their on-boarding date.

We’ve released a new enhanced training programme especially for those imminently on-boarding to MCR, which provides a process overview, data set and contributions explanations and scenario examples, from which we’ve received great feedback, including:

‘Really useful course – scenarios and examples were really helpful.’

‘Excellent course – really helped me understand the different scenarios.’

‘The session was very informative, and the delivery was clear and kept a good pace.’

If you haven’t chosen your on-boarding date yet, but you’ve an idea of when you’d like to on-board, we’ve created a new section on our MCR web pages which includes on-boarding availability and should give you a better idea of if your chosen month is still available, or if you have to select another month.

Prior to on-boarding there are certain tasks you must complete, including ensuring your payroll or software provider are ready to on-board in your chosen month and completing your On-boarding form (XLSX, 37 KB) (This link opens in a new window). To help you, we’ve created an MCR Checklist (PDF, 209 KB) (This link opens in a new window) which can be downloaded and worked through with your payroll or software provider, if you’re using one.

Since MCR went live in July, we’ve been collating lots of FAQs from various employers and payroll/software providers. We wanted these to be in depth and cover vast topics to ensure that we could help you as much as possible, as we know it’s a lot to take in. You can find them on our website, but if there’s a question you still have that we don’t have the answer to online, please let us know (This link opens in a new window).

As you can imagine when a process change as big as MCR is implemented, there’ll be teething problems and common issues that arise. To help you with your submissions and avoid any errors we’ve created a few hints and tips on ‘Enrolment type’ field population, re-uploading error files, opening MCR files in Excel and more, which can be found on our website.

Finally, to ensure our resources remain up to date, we’ve updated a few of our MCR guides, including the MCR User Guide (PDF, 1.6 MB) (This link opens in a new window), the On-boarding Guide (PDF, 2.2 MB) (This link opens in a new window) and the User Guide - Appendix A (XLSX, 946 KB) (This link opens in a new window) to account for changes in contribution calculations.

If you have any queries or questions on MCR and would like to speak to a member of the team, email us (This link opens in a new window) with your contact details and we’ll happily give you a call back.
