Our website changes on 1 April – Find out how

From 1 April there are changes to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, which means there will be a suite of changes to this website including:

  •  The introduction of a new tool to help you to determine which member type you are in(i.e. protected, transition or tapered member)
  • Once you’re aware of which member type you are, we’ve created new website content which is specific to your member type and your Scheme Arrangement (i.e. career average or final salary). Find out which Scheme Arrangement you’re in here?
  • A new Flexibilities form. You’ll be able to choose from a range of flexibilities depending on which arrangement you’re in. Find out more about Flexibilities here
  • A new lifestyle calculator, which will allow you to estimate what lifestyle you’ll be able to afford when you retire as well as estimate the pension you’ll actually receive based on your information. The calculator then compares your chosen lifestyle to the final pension amount illustrating any differences.
  • A new annual allowance calculator, which allows you to see how much you can earn before you meet the tax threshold.

There’s also:

  • New factsheets
  • New FAQs
  • Improved Retirement forms
  • An enhanced commutation modeller, which reflects the different Scheme Arrangements
  • Improved search functionality to enable you to find relevant content more easily
  • Revised site navigation to enable a smoother journey
  • Different colours schemes dependent on whether you’re a member or an employer
  • A new public homepage.

Please be aware that due to these changes, any content you may have bookmarked will need to be updated after 1 April 2015.

Changes to My Pension Online

  • There’s a new family benefits modeller, which uses your details to estimate how much your family may get if you were to die. This is available online via My Pension Online. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to sign up for an account here.
  • A new death grant modeller, which uses your details to estimate how much your spouse may get if you were to die. This is available online via My Pension Online. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to sign up for an account here.
