Cessation of contracting out

We’ve been keeping you up to date with the changes being introduced in April to the ‘Cessation of Contracting out’.

We’re now starting to contact employers regarding service and salary queries.

If you are contacted by email, there will be a request for you to complete a template. This will be available within the Employer Portal. You will then be required to download the template, complete the information requested and upload the completed template via the Employer Portal.

In the next month, we’ll also be emailing active members to let them know of the changes to ‘Contracting Out’. We’ll highlight how the changes will impact on the Scheme and signpost them to information that is available to help them understand what it means to their State pension.

As you know, we don’t hold contact details for all of our members. Therefore could we ask you to support us by circulating a copy of the email to your employees? Click here (OFT, 29 KB) (This link opens in a new window) to a copy of the email.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has provided a letter (PDF, 82 KB) (This link opens in a new window) to Teachers’ Pensions and other public service administrators to circulate to employers.

This letter gives details of the State Pension scheme from 6 April 2016 and also sets out the changes to National Insurance contributions.  Whilst this is aimed at ‘public service employers’, the message equally applies to all employers participating in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.  You’ll see that the letter contains a link to the DWP employers’ toolkit, together with hand-outs and other promotional material you may find useful in liaising with your employees.
