A set of amendments to the Teachers’ Pensions Regulations have been laid in Parliament and will come into force on 30 November. The changes are predominantly technical in nature, and you will need to be aware of their impact. More information is provided here (PDF, 130 KB) (This link opens in a new window), but in summary:

• The prior average salary, to assess whether the reduced salary condition has been met for Phased Retirement, will be taken over the prior 12 months rather than 6.
• When a member has applied for Serious Ill-health Commutation, that is the award that will be paid even if they die prior to the payment
