Updates to the Benefit Statement

After listening to feedback from our various stakeholders, including members and unions, we’ve updated the Benefit Statement. This will provide a simpler way for you to understand more about your pension and how it’s calculated. The changes include:

  • Information for members in the Final Salary arrangement about how average salary is calculated. A Final Salary pension can be calculated in a number of ways (with the most beneficial method being displayed). The Benefit Statement now shows which option has been chosen and how the estimate has been calculated
  • An out of service death grant figure for deferred members (those with benefits in the Scheme but not currently in pensionable service)
  • Breaks in pensionable service will be highlighted within the service history. This will make it easier for you to check your record is accurate.

You can view your Benefit Statement on My Pension Online (MPO).

If there are any issues with your service history please speak to the relevant employer and ask them to update your record.
