HMRC Self Assessment deadline – 31 January 2025 and estimated Annual Allowance charges

HMRC advise that if you’re currently registered for Self-Assessment, you must complete a tax return by the deadline of 31 January 2025. If this isn’t done, you will need to pay a late filing penalty.

If you haven’t received your Pension Savings Statement yet, and you think that you may have an Annual Allowance charge to pay, you’ll need to provide an estimate of the tax charge on your return.  Any under-estimate will result in interest charges accruing from 31 January 2025.

If you think you may breach the Annual Allowance, please use provisional figures calculated to the best of your ability. Further information on calculating provisional or estimated figures (This link opens in a new window) is available on the government’s website.
