Answer:
Public service pensions are increased annually by the same percentage as State Additional Pensions (the State Earnings Related Pension and the State Second Pension).
It’s applied in April and is based on the increase in the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the 12 months to September of the previous year. This is to keep them in line with the cost of living. You can find the latest Pensions Increase information on our updates page.
-
Answer:
The increase is applied to payments from the first Monday after April 6. If your April payment date falls before then, you’ll receive the increase from your May payment.

Answer:
If you haven't received your annual increase this may be because your pension payment date fell before the first Monday in April. You should receive your increase in your May payment.
-
Answer:
Increases may be proportioned if you took retirement benefits during the Scheme year. You’ll receive the full Pensions Increase once your benefits have been in payment for a full Scheme year. For example if you retired in December 2020, you’d receive a proportional increase in April 2021 and then the full Pensions Increase in April 2022.
Your Pensions Increase may also be lower if you've a Guaranteed Minimum Pension and your State Pension Age was before 6 April 2016. This is because increases above 3% are paid by the State via increases to your State pension.
