Changes to member contribution bands

On 1 April 2017, the salary bands applicable to member contributions for the Teachers’ Pension Scheme will change in line with an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The appropriate percentage increase to salary bands from 1 April 2017 is the percentage increase in CPI in the year to September 2016.

CPI rose by 1.00% in the year to September 2016. Therefore, the salary bands for contribution rates for members will increase by 1.00% with effect from 1 April 2017.

These arrangements apply to all members i.e. both those who remain in final salary arrangements and those in the career average arrangement.
