Meet the DFE representatives

The Permanent Secretary is ultimately responsible to ministers for the effective administration of the scheme and its financial management. As such he needs to have representatives on the Board to ensure that Departmental interests are taken in account in making decisions. These representatives are at Director-level and represent the policy area that manages the scheme (i.e. Teachers and Teaching) and the Finance and Audit function.

The tenure of these appointments are planned to coincide with the time the individuals hold the relevant DfE post.

Iain spent some years working at the Treasury as a Public Spending official, and before that he spent over seven years in the private sector, working as a consultant and auditor.

He is also SRO for the department's financial reporting programme, which includes preparation of the Sector Annual Report and Accounts - a document that consolidates the financial results of over 6,000 academies.
