Planning to retire

If a member is affected by Transition Protection changes and is planning to retire, they’ll need to:

  • Complete their retirement application through their My Pension Online account (for some circumstances they’ll need to apply by post, using the appropriate retirement form)
  • If they’re still in employment, once they’ve completed their application it’ll go to you as their employer to complete and then be returned to us
  • If they’ve overtime contributions, excess teaching service and/or flexibilities, they’ll need to make decisions on these as part of their retirement application. We’ll issue them with a Rollback Choices Statement and form to ask them to make their decision. More information on rollback can be found in our factsheet (PDF, 244 KB) (This link opens in a new window)
  • Once their rollback choices are made, or for those without these choices to make, they’ll be sent information via their Remediable Service Statement on the options they must make, regarding service during the remedy period. They then need return the form to complete their retirement application
  • Once the application is completed, they’ll receive their Award Papers.
