Contribution Tier

  • Answer:

This is the method to determine the member’s contribution tier and should be used in all instances, even if you’re not currently submitting monthly MCR files, to determine the tier unless the member is receiving reduced pay due to family or occupational sick leave.

If a member is on occupational sick leave and they’re receiving at least half of their normal monthly salary, or they’re on family leave and they’re receiving statutory pay, or at least half of their normal monthly salary, then the annualised monthly pay they would’ve received if they weren’t on reduced earnings (notional pay) should be used to determine the tier.
